- A Shower Of Sparks
The words sparkle inside my mind
Like scintillating spills of crystal ~
I see their colors and I hear
The way they sing to me ~
Do you hear them too ~ or
Is this miracle mine alone ~
They move in stately procession ~
Or they salsa or they jive ~
I never can predict their actions ~
I am a slave to their beauty too ~
In fact I can’t recall a time
I didn’t feel this way ~
The beauty of a wildflower can
Leave me breathless with longing ~
To create with my words ~ just once ~
A thing of such effortless
Loveliness and joy ~
Gifted with such resources
Surely I cannot be so clumsy
As I sometimes feel ~ when I
Compare my efforts to the sheer
Perfection of the natural world ~
My aspirations are higher than
They have ever been ~
And I have come to realize ~
That the gifts of Grace
Are given ~ to the worthy
And to the undeserving ~
In generously equal measure ~
By a Universe which takes us ~
Not so seriously as we would
Be taken ~ but which
Loves us all the same ~

Unearthing the Heavenly Diva Mary Fahl

Ah Melody, this is absolutely perfect! Whenever I write, I do feel like the words dance to their own tune. Also, this is exactly how I feel when I see the images in my mind for my paintings. They dance, they sing, they sparkle. Especially the cupcakes, they really have a mind of their own haha ^_^
I’ve always felt safe when I surrounded myself with words and art when I was younger. I really, really loved this!

TJ, I know what you mean. I’ve always felt safe and happy with words. I understand them and I love to work with them and play with them. I’m so glad you enjoyed my poem, thank you!

That’s a beautiful ode to words and language and communication and creativity. Love it, very inspiring and motivating to read.
Pete, coming from one of the most prolific and dynamic writers I know that’s a feather-in-my-cap of a compliment. Color me appropriately grateful!

Melody,
Reminds me of that Whirling Dervish dance that Mary did once. She went to a Halloween party dressed as one, and as I read your words, I imagined Mary whirling happily in between the lines of verse!

It’s always interesting to see what my words conjure up in the minds of others. Do you have any pictures to go with this story, ma’am?

Melody,
Yet again a stunningly beautiful poem. If ever the word sparkling could be applied to a poem, this would be the one.
Also, the image is exquisite!
Love this poem!

Oh, Larry, if only everyone were as easy to please and as quick with a graceful compliment. And, yes, the image was a great find. It had the larger-than-life, extra dramatic crystal creature I was looking for and didn’t know it till I saw it. Don’t you love it when that happens?
Thank you so much for your kind words.
