This poem was first written August 4,1996. The next year my wife was diagnosed with cancer which she fought bravely against all odds for the next 14 years. She always  kept a happy, positive outlook on life. Jennifer loved being with all her heart. Loved the creatures of the sea, the air,and land she found the good in all humans.  She especially loved the ocean and one time had been a strong ocean swimmer, she was a mermaid. She adopted whales and dolphins, loved to go out to sea and watch the whales play, I know she longed to join them, and now she has.

On September 25th at 7:28 am my little mermaid was given wings to go with her mermaids tail and now soars with eagles and and swims with dolphins in a land of dreams where all things are possible. Just as Jennifer always believed, all things are possible with love. The last 10 lines of this poem were written tonight, October 19th, 2011.

Silently creeping

Where did you come from

Did you sneak in

While I was sleeping

Where did you come from

You gave me a start

Laughing and playing

Right into my heart

I know where you came from

I know where you’ve been

You come from the river of dreams

Round the bend

You come on wings

As light as the air

You come to give love

That’s more than my share

But now that you’re here

From your mystical place

I know that I’ve loved

Forever you face

I need you and love you

For all of my life

Happy birthday for now

And forever my wife

As time passed my love only grew

 But  in time

I knew I was to lose you

You have better wings now

And a mermaids tail

I still see your face

I still feel your touch

And God will now tell you

I still love you

So much

  See You Later

I made it through college, started at Pace in New York, family seemed to think I needed a business degree. I didn't last long, two double periods of accounting a week and I was off to N.Y. U. To make a long story short ( too late for that) I graduated from UCLA and actually, my biggest kick out of that is just saying, especially here on the east coast UCLA, but I could care less, been in Boston since 1975, though I was coming for a year or so. A very good friend at the time, she said to me "Dan you'll never leave Boston" so dear Florida “Sun Spot Baby" you're down there, been in and out of radio, TV, acting and that's me in a nut shell.

TJ, Thank you. But when I read the words I still feel that I fell short of really telling how truly special she was.

    • Ah I can only imagine. I think every now and then, words do fail in capturing what you really feel. You can only try, but it would be much easier if people could peek into your mind and feel what you really feel. The feelings are lingering in between your sentences and I guess that’s why I couldn’t capture it in one word how it made me feel :-)

Anya, you amaze and the depth you’ve looked into my writings. Most people read the surface, recent post and recent feelings. Thank you for you time in looking deeper in both.
