An easy retreat, this walkabout in existence

Strolling in limbo looking for signs of

Direction, uncertain, unyielding, unstopping

Not moving, no feeling, no pain, no joy, no care

Empty. Silent. Safe. Apathy. Ambivalence.

Exhausting sublimation

Conveying emotions through word images is something I have long loved. I describe it as word-painting, sometimes Impressionistic like Monet and sometimes bold and obtuse like Picasso.

Wonderful line but reading between them makes me me feel uneasy for the poet.

I, like Dan, feel uneasy for you Cher. I have missed you and am so glad to see you back. I made my first entry today since you have been gone…You inspire me.

    Dear Tolbert,
I have missed you. Four words with depth. I have missed our chats and your exquisite poetry. Friends should never make such hasty departure, but my feeling at the time was to take a hard step back, assess my life, and which road to follow next.

Lest you be dismayed, I am fine and enjoying my new journey into the realm of abstract painting. Ironic how the brushes and paints map my direction, as though they can scope the territory of my mind. And as this happens, my thoughts have often turned to you. I think you would enjoy the sight of me paint-splattered and frenetic as the visions unfold. My hair is long, wild and curly—not unlike some of the acrylic strokes.

You are with me always, my friend.

It made me think of sadness and loneliness, if that was the intention then it carried that emotion heavily. I read the above explanation and I can understand your thoughts. I am not a great poet, or a great anything come to that, but I think the ability to convey such innermost feelings in such few words is a craft, to be not only cherished, but shared and admired.
We have never ‘meet’ but I would like to read more.
