Full Moon from loveyourdesign.com, astronomologer.com

Pale glorious moon

You glow ~

And shimmer in the

Ebon night ~

I see your beauty

With my eyes and

With my spirit ~

And I hear your

Siren song ~

Across the breathless

Miles between our

Different worlds ~

Will I ever touch

Your cold, cold face ~

Traverse your

Airless surface ~

Like a small fleet

Hart bounding ahead

of Diana ~ Goddess of

the Hunt ~

Goddess of the Moon ~

Diana ~

I feel your tidal pull

Through the veins and

Capillaries of my

Earthly body ~ and I

Turn toward you as a

Flower turns toward

The sun ~

But now the sun

Is hours away ~

And you alone hold

Sway ~ in your

Kingdom of the dark ~

And we have hours

More ~ cloaked in

Shadow and bathed

In your unearthly

Light ~

I began writing poetry in my early 20s, and then put it aside and forgot it. Then a couple of years ago, I suddenly began writing ~ about everything under the sun ~ and I began to write poetry again. Or perhaps I should say channel more than write, since I feel that I am merely the conduit for some of the pieces I write. Those are the best of times, when the words flow, and those are the words which speak to others. Wish I could live in that state all the time!

  1. If ever there were a love affair with the moon…???? or perhaps an appropriate metaphor for a different love? smiles. Awesome.

I’ve always been entranced by the moon, Dani. When I was very small, I thought it was a magic hole cut in the night sky to let the light shine through. I’m glad you liked it, thank you.

  2. Melody,

Enchanting like the Moon of which you write so movingly!

Larry, thank you for your lovely compliment. I never get tired of hearing the good stuff!

  3. Melody, you are always one that captures moods and imagery so well. This poem is exquisite. Your pondering mind and artful soul come through in all you write.

Did you see the moon last night, Cher? It was so huge and seemed so near. The sky was clear and the chill of winter was in the air, but I saw my first robin the day before, and took a long walk with a friend, admiring the flowers that have popped up everywhere all at once. Spring always sets me off. Thank you. :)

  4. Beautiful and elegant Melody. The voice and tone here are so commanding and authoritative, STRONG. The transcendental bent is so well done.

    Very enjoyable reading here. :)

Elegant, oh, I like elegant, and strong. I’ve been working on strong for a long time and now I think I’ve got it down pat. You’re certainly an expert at a well-turned compliment. Thanks so much, Pete.
