- Lover’s Promise
There is a love that is
Close to madness ~
Engulfing the senses ~
Turning night to day
And sense to nonsense ~
And all the while
The magic calls to me ~
To an inner ear
I did not know
That I possessed ~
And it pours into me
With all its beauty ~
Stirs my senses
Makes me wild ~
My hands are trembling
And the air seems thin ~
I think that when I
Say I am a creature
Of my passions ~
I speak more truly
Than I know ~
And I miss you so ~
I want you with the
Old familiar ache ~
The pain ebbs and
Flows like an
Invisible tide ~
And the music dances
On my skin ~
As the moonlight
Plays along my nerves ~
And I know there
Will be no sleep for me
Tonight ~
I will follow our
Path through the woods ~
Though I know that
You won’t be there ~
Will never be there
Again ~
But I can’t help myself ~
The memories call
To me as the moon calls
To the tide ~
And I must answer ~
Oh why have you gone ~
Where even my love
Cannot reach you ~
Why could you not
Wait for me ~
You promised you
Would wait for me ~
You lied ~

Dear Melody: You have real depth of soul. Jill
Jill, what a lovely compliment. Thank you so much! You’re a sweet lady and a good friend.

Melody,
I have found that throughout our lives sometimes the way people love us is the best they can offer. When love seems absent it isn’t because they do not care but that we care with a bigger heart. I love the way you get us to walk along the beautiful path with you. Lovely!
And no one can promise tomorrow, can they? Even with the best will in the world. Thank you for walking the path with me.

You know Melody, you could break a few hearts with the beauty of your words as well. It is so good to be reading you again.

Thank you, Dan. I feel the same. Just look at us, breaking hearts coast to coast. You can’t say love is good for nothing.

Melody,
The love you write of – even if it is a love lost as this appears to be – is the kind that launched ships and stirred knights to feats of courage. Every time I read one of your love poems, I am transported.
Years from now, even if our civilization crashes and burns, I hope that some of our successors come upon a compilation of your poetry. you will be to them what Ovid is to us.
Lovely, simply, magnificently lovely!

Larry, you pay the most devastatingly beautiful compliments. Thank you, my friend.
I have compiled some of my poetry, and a book – probably an ebook – will be my next project. It’s people like you and a few others who have encouraged me even to think of doing it, so thanks again. Melody
