I never meant for you to stay…But…you have.

I never thought you to be.. what I wanted…I only planned for you to be (just) what I needed for a short time. You were meant to be a band-aid, a temporary vice, a handkerchief ..a meaningless yet special secret.

You were meant to stay invisible once away from my view…but now (YOU) are all I see.

I never really meant for you to stay…But… you  have.

Stuck.

You’re stuck in my thoughts. Stuck between the pages of my work. Stuck in my morning, and cemented in my night. Trapped in my sheets and pillowcases. On top of me when I shower..hovering when I apply my lipstick.

You have attached yourself to my temples, lying along my forehead. Twirled around my bang. Curled within my brow. You crowd my space, my thoughts my words, my breath…

You’re here..trapped between my fingers, encased in my fingernails.

You’re right here..smeared on my thighs, shined on my shoulders, on the inside of my elbows.  You’re pasted on my wrists…Ruby red on my hip. Your blue on my toe and white at my lips. Cool and moist on my belly, lined at my breast and pierced to my nipple.

You’re here..Right here at my ear lobes. Dangled around my neck. Dripped along my sides..You’re here..Right here…

Nestled between my legs and rested on my back.

You’re here..Right here.. tugging my hair and holding my hand, fastened and lodged deep into my chest

You’re all over me..Coloring me, Marking me, Naming me, and Calling me..”YOURS”.

"I Float".. I Float like a butterfly, sting like a bee..ain't nobody got nothin' on me." I Float with iridescent blue wings.. high on top of purple dust..low to the oceans floor. I spin and whirl, wallow and sink. I am who I am, only because it's who I've been blessed to be. All-knowing and nothing. I knew you long before YOU knew you. Plugging USB cords to the universal cipher, I stay lit. I do what I do, simply because I DO IT. I love, hurt, bleed, laugh, cry, dance. F up, F down, (sideways and on my knees). I pray for forgiveness, and sleep on books of ancestral secrets. I love life because "it's" mine. I want bliss, happiness, joy, and "The love of my life", but I face reality that I may have to settle for the fattest, funkiest, avocado, soy burger and wheat-grass juice. "I Float"..Not fast. Not slow. Just enough for (YOU) to stay with...(ME). Mantra (Writer, Poet and Artist from The Greater St. Louis Area)

    Mantra,

    Another wonderful expression of sense and sensuality. I love to read your poetry just after waking up. It puts a song in my heart, a spring in my step and an image in my mind. Armed with these, I am ready to take on the world and win because I know exactly what is worth fighting for.

    Thanks for turning up the fire in this old engine.

    Now I am off to do great things!
