Fostered with like pigments
Spun from the same cotton bond
We emerged uniquely…
The fabric of our lives wearing
and shaping us into who we are today.
Identical thread can be more or less forgiving
depending on the thickness of a
particular place in the strand
Perhaps you received more fiber
during times of prosper, and I
less in times leaner?
Still…
Some days it is hard to imagine
that we are cut from the same cloth

  1. “Still…some days it is hard to imagine that we are all cut from the same cloth” Such true words, Dani. I love your use of threads and fabric as it applies to individuality. Beautifully done!

  2. Hello! Ah what an unique way to use fabric as a metaphor. Love it! Cher picked out my fave part of the poem as well :)

Cher .. thank you so much for your kind words and taking the time to ingest mine. This piece arose not from my own experience so much but from things I have witnessed. :)

Thank you Tj for your sweet thoughts. The fabric just seemed a fitting metaphor to me. :)

  5. Cher and TJ also picked my favorite part. I have a brother and two sisters and we’re all So different from each other it’s hard to believe. I enjoyed looking at the subject from your perspective, and the quilt picture is perfect! Nice work, Dani.

“The fabric of our lives” calls to mind the fabric of our society which is fraying more and more every day.

We need to realize that we are both cut from the same cloth and tailors of the cloaks and garments we all have to wear.

It is time to mend rather than rend the fabrics of our lives and our society.

Thank you Larry for taking the time to read my words. This piece is about siblings, but I can sort of see your correlation. smiles.

  8. The use of metaphor here creates in a film in my mind as I read. For so few words this is BIG! And the visual is just so perfect.

Lovely morning reading, thank you for posting.
