- You Remain

Your scent infused me in aisle ten
at the corner market today…
Caught unaware and ill prepared
I was instantly transported to
a time when amber orbs held my gaze
and be-stilled my heart.
Refracted images of brief interludes
where little was said and much transpired
pervaded my thoughts…
Powerful emotions paused my life
as though it were merely a digitally
mastered reproduction.
A wayward shopper bumps me in passing
and as if pressing the play button
sets the day back in motion.
You would think after nearly three decades
the intensity of your memory would fade
and yet it remains…
