Justice, Poetic or Otherwise

I can only hope that Karma comes round to those that take advantage of innocent Hearts…   That despite the propensity of prideful puffing… I can rest well in the knowledge that all is not as it seems   That underneath the public personna of well to do   Lies the ravages of struggle that one has to go through when finally earning their keep   © 11/23/13 Dani Heart

For Now

For Now… Lil sister spins round in circles oblivious to her public surroundings. She is alive in the moment embracing all that she perceives with open arms. For now,  she revels in her innocence. Her sweet little light radiates and it is infectious. She is completely unaware of the dangers that await her growing up as a commodity in a world wrought with exploitation , gender inequality and  isms innumerable. For now,  big sister watches, directs, and looks out for little sister… she is safe and protected in the womb of family… For now…   ©10/18/2013 Dani Heart

FrogSiren

FrogSiren   Like a whimsical flurry you blew into my life You were a breeze I turned my face to arms outstretched fully to embrace your curious rustling with every fiber of my soul.   and you stirred within me feverish bouts of creativity, the world pregnant with promise when I viewed it through your eyes.   You were the perfect muse! Your friendship afforded me unexpected bounties immeasurable.   Now our sad, broken melody plays on the wind. I know you hear it, feel it, and it catches you unaware.   I know in your heart you still secretly dance to our music…  ...

Symphony Alive

Symphony Alive   Morning light sparkles on the bubbling current. Birds tweet, ducks quack Unseen excitement darts to and fro in nature’s soft carpet.   The wind sings a powerful soothing melody as it caresses leaves rustling with enthusiasm   I breathe in deeply and offer a contented grateful smile   It’s good to be alive!       August 31/2013

Epiphany

With hungry eyes and a sense of entitlement you inspected our bodies as we exited the pool.   As if we were pieces of fruit you could toss to the side in favor one you deemed to be free of blemishes…   (heaven forbid there be cellulite!)   and when you expressed with glee to me that I had made your imaginary aesthetic cut   that compared to girls ten years plus my junior who hadn’t born children… there were no discernable differences that your pea brain could deduce…   though my ravaged self esteem eagerly lapped up that ration of slop you so benevolently...

Skin

Black nails..scrape; striping your forearm, I watch streaks fade from Scarlet to Blue.  Tinted Purple fingerprints mimic my grip. Facing you..Green eye to Brown. Wide, Kohl lashes flicker fast.  Moist Crimson lips..twist between White teeth nibbling Pink…creating warm Fuchsia. Tightly pulling Ivory. Wrestling Magenta. Grabbing Beige. Tugging Yellow. Yanking Burgundy. Clutching Caramel. Pushing Almond. Pinching Ebony. Grappling Ginger. Straddling Cream. Covering Copper. Tasting Hazel. Sipping Coffee. Pressing Honey. Brassy and Golden. Emerald and happily Jaded. Blushed and Shaded Sapphire. Fleshed out. Red-Hot flashed about and blended colorfully next to you.

“E” B Jamming!

“It ain’t too hard..It ain’t too hard for me to JAM!” Michael Jackson Across The Court..he shoots…”Swish”. The rubber of his shoes squeak as they frisk along the gym floor… never leaving a scuff. Gliding and Moon-walking..  (Jamming) His nylon pants mimic each breezy gesture..back and forth they wave responding to every Twinkling Movement.  He pauses… Alert and Quiet. Head up. Eye’s Pierced. Arms High. Gently Releasing… then….”Swish”. Before the ball hits the floor…”Plap” it falls into his hands. An echo fills the court…”I got this“, he huffs in breathy exaltation. The ball briefly claps the Maple floor then congratulates his palm.  He nods....

A Grand Awakening

A  Grand  Awakening   The sun sets on the Canyon’s fire… A sacred space… with a past as colorful as it’s rocks to which no photo has ever done justice.   Barefoot impressions in the sand remind us of those who once flourished here.   The wind transports me as it makes its way throughout, defining crevices, and speaking volumes to all who will listen.   Hidden chasms possess breathtaking waterfalls, with clues to an existence long ago past.   Night falls in the Canyon…   While I nestle snuggly into the softest of shorelines enveloped by a blanket of stars above… The river lulls...

Do You Know My Lover’s Name?

I had a lover I treated her badly Believing that I knew her, and we would never separate.   I had a lover We were close She was overly kind at times, and on her needs I never did concentrate   I had a lover It was, you see, a one way trade, and in truth that lifelong pact was never sealed and firmly made   I had a lover There were signs, sometime ago, that she was becoming annoyed with me but I was selfish, and those I choose not to see   I had a lover The time has come for her to...

I Got Lucky

The first moan of life Thrust from darkness into light I got lucky While living out a country song Playing music all night long I got lucky And living in a rock and roll dream Nothing was ever quite what it seemed I got lucky I’ve never had to live on the streets                                                       And always had enough to eat I got lucky Though out my life or so it seems With women, music, places, scenes I got...
